It’s that time of the year again when the elves come out and are jumping around from place to place in the house keeping an eye out on the kids to make sure they are on their best behavior. The kids know to act right because Santa will get that report and will either give them a gift or lump of coal. Our oldest is 11 and she’s well aware of the behind the scenes elf shenanigans and she gives her ideas so we can make it happen. The first night out the boys were so excited when they saw them on the tree and now they are inside of jars and containers. They are getting a kick out of it, asking questions such as “Why are they hiding in there?”. 

 

When I first became a part of this it was with my step daughter and my wife had to explain to me the whole folklore because this wasn’t around when I was growing up. They even made a movie about it so that everyone can have an understanding of how it all works. My best friend and his girlfriend were in town so we let them have some fun helping out. The prior years it was frustrating because we lived in an apartment and after 15 days you start to run out of ideas. Now that we are living in a house we have more space and different places to put them.

 

I admit it’s very fun especially because I didn’t grow up with it and seeing their surprised faces definitely brings me joy. One of the boys drew a picture of a Christmas tree and put it next to the elf on the first day it appeared. We hid it the next day because we wanted him to think that the elf took it back to the North Pole. We have to make their list of toys to give to the elves soon, even though they circled the toya in the amazon catalog we have to write it down on paper. 

 

This is mainly for those that have a very young child such as a toddler and are ready to introduce them to the elves. This isn’t for those who already have big kids or no kids at all.
