Unpacking Everything
We got everything out of our PODS container and with everyone’s boxes labeled they all went to their proper rooms. Now taking everything out to put them in their spot was pretty messy to say the least. Unfortunately because of the minimum time we have during the week after a long day of work, it wouldn’t allow us to get much done. Only baby steps were the most progress we were able to do, that is until the weekend which we longed for. However it felt like we weren’t getting anything done because there were lots of things that we needed to buy for example a new work desk for my wife, the twins needed new beds along with other things that needed fixing around the house. Once we weekends came around that’s when we were able to tackle a lot of things which meant working all day long.
The Building
I took the day off because my daughter had an appointment and I needed to pick up my sons around 2:30 so my plan was to build just one of their beds and then their mattresses came in. It was a surprise because both beds and mattresses were due to arrive that following Saturday but instead they came a few days early. Now its crunch time because I would rather get this built ASAP so that they can sleep in their new beds. It took me close to 4 hours of building these beds and finished right before I had to head out to pick them up. The mattresses are memory foam and I had to open it so that it can expand on its own so I did that as I started building the beds so by the time I finished the mattresses would be ready. When they came home they climbed on their beds and they loved it! The mattress is very soft and they like it a lot better than their old ones which now they sleep better throughout the night. We got them loft beds since there wouldn’t be much space in their rooms with toys and plushies if we got them regular beds and they both wanted to sleep on top when we showed them bunk beds. Now they can put away their plushies under their beds because there is so much room. The loft bed that we picked is black wood with a ladder for them to climb. The max weight it says to be 115 lbs which fits a twin sized mattress, so that should last them quite some time. I will post the link below.
The work desk my wife got is one of those adjustable standing desks with the touch of a button. It looks so nice that I want to get one now but in reality I don’t need it. It’s a good size for her dual monitor setup with one being very wide around 30”. It’s a nice clean looking desk with a few parts to assemble which was fairly easy to build. The height adjusting buttons are very straight forward with two up and down arrow buttons that you can press or hold for increments and further distance. The other four buttons are for programming the height and to program you just have to hold the button until it blinks. The sturdiness of the build gives you a sense of assurance that the desk wont give and wobble. I will also post the link below and there’s different width options in case you need it to be wider than the one we have which is 48”.
Approaching The Finish Line
Even though I lost a day because I caught the flu that weekend we managed to catch up during the week and once the following weekend came we were able to hang up the TV’s and put away most of our clothes in our drawers. The only thing left now is hanging up portraits and organizing the garage a little bit. It took a few weeks but when life has its interruptions you just gotta roll with the punches. Especially with a family birthday approaching on the same weekend as our anniversary. We worked hard all month so of course we are going to treat and enjoy ourselves. It’s starting to feel like home now and we no longer have to go looking around for boxes to see where a specific item is.
